The School Run on Two Wheels

At St Frideswide’s we’re really keen to get more people on bikes and we have a dedicated programme, ‘St FridesRide’, to encourage more cycling, which includes a bike library, help with cycle training and now a bike bus. We fundraised for the programme – I have ridden to Land’s End and back twice now, and friends have ridden from England to Switzerland along the Rhine and to Croatia – and we even managed to raise enough for a new specialist small group teacher.

Giving Kids Freedom

“It’s changed how [my daughters] look at life. The things they can see and do on a bike are so different to just sitting in my car. They love the outdoors, more than me, and I really believe that’s come from cycling around on their bikes. I’m really happy.”

Join the Cycle Convoy!

“I cycle from Donnington Bridge to St Ebbes; it’s about a mile and a half each way. On my way, I pick up a few other children and we cycle together. There was a time last summer when I was cycling with nine children! We go along the cycle lane, over the crossing and then the rest of the way on the quieter roads. I think people just need free training, once a week, in every single park, wherever they are. That would make a huge change.”
