Earn Rewards for Active Travel

Fancy earning rewards and winning prizes simply for getting around? Better Points Oxfordshire rewards you for travelling on foot, by bike or by public transport. If you’re using active travel regularly to get to work your points will quickly stack up.

What is Better Points?

BetterPoints Oxfordshire offers you rewards for travelling in environmentally friendly or active ways. All you need to do is download the free app, register and let it do the rest.

The app tracks you automatically, so you don’t even need to press start and stop for each journey. You’ll automatically be credited with BetterPoints to spend or donate and everyone who lives, works or studies in Oxfordshire can take part.

How it works

You’ll earn your first 100 points by downloading the app and taking the short baseline survey.

After that, you’ll earn one point per minute for every walk, wheel, run or cycle that starts or finishes within the county (up to a maximum of 30 minutes every day) and 15 points for every bus or train journey you make over half a mile that starts or finishes within the county (up to twice a day). So, if you walk five minutes to your bus stop, take the bus to town, and walk five minutes to work or the shops, you’ll have earned 25 points without any extra effort. Take the bus home again later and you’re up 50 points.

The app also incudes a progress chart that shows how many minutes you’ve been active each day, so you can track your daily and weekly activity and set targets for your fitness.

Spend or donate your rewards

The points you earn act like a digital currency, and you can spend them at participating local businesses, redeem them for high street vouchers, or donate them to local charities. You’ll also qualify for prize draw entries to win European city breaks, e-bikes and shopping vouchers.
